Rap music was introduced in the eighties, it has changed since then. Funkmaster Flex and Sugarhill Gang are considered to be the pioneers of rap music and Curtis Blow its godfather. Rap music brought in with it a new culture. Wearing jogging suits, kangol hats, and big gold chains, bandana, wrist bands was considered cool. It also ushered in the new style of dancing called breakdance. Rappers such as Curtis Blow and Run DMC composed rap songs that had very catchy beats and fun to listen to. Public Enemy created songs that made people socially conscious and think deeply. Every song contained a message, so no one can accuse them of providing fluff. They are one of the most respectable rap groups and have maintained this stature for more than two decades.
